🌟 Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS)
At Inspire Academy, we believe that positive behavior is teachable, and every student deserves a supportive learning environment that builds not just academic skills, but emotional resilience and social confidence. That’s why we proudly implement the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) model throughout our school.
What Is PBIS?
PBIS is a proactive, evidence-based approach to behavior management that helps create safe, respectful, and engaging learning environments. It focuses on preventing challenging behaviors by teaching and reinforcing positive social skills, establishing clear expectations, and providing consistent support for every student.
How We Use PBIS at Inspire Academy
We use the PBIS framework to prepare staff to interact effectively with students who have varying levels of social and emotional skills—skills that research shows are often at the root of many behavioral challenges. By equipping our educators with the tools and training to proactively manage behavior, we build a school culture based on encouragement, consistency, and respect.
Our PBIS program includes:
-
Individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) tailored to student needs
-
Level systems that motivate students through positive reinforcement and progress tracking
-
Problem-solving skills training for students with emotional disturbances or disorders
-
Frequent recognition of positive behaviors through structured praise and incentives
-
A strong emphasis on relationships, communication, and trust
Why It Matters
For students with emotional and behavioral challenges, structure and predictability are key. PBIS allows us to intervene early, adjust strategies based on individual progress, and help students develop life-long skills like self-regulation, conflict resolution, and responsible decision-making.
At Inspire Academy, PBIS isn’t just a program—it’s a part of our culture. It reflects our deep belief in the potential of every student, and our commitment to helping them succeed in the classroom and beyond.
